Chris has been making an effort to work on time management and engaging more with supports. He has been to attending program and outings more frequently and regularly, socializing with peers, and participating in group activities and classes. He also recently moved to a new apartment which requires more independence continuing to work towards his goals of independent living. Congratulations, Chris, on persistently pursuing and achieving your goals! We appreciate having you as a part of our program and are happy to be seeing you more often!
Joyce has been putting a lot of effort into managing her mental health and supports over the past few months. She has been working very hard to connect to new supports and manage her treatment well. She has been taking a more active role in her mental health care and advocating for herself, working toward setting boundaries and respecting the boundaries of others, and has been supporting other members in their own personal journeys. She has been practicing and gaining new coping skill (like knitting, going for walks, and reading) and has been dressing nicely, in ways that make her feel good when she attends program and goes out. She has also been volunteering regularly at her church and doing mission work in local hospitals, utilizing skills she gained in her work as a nurse in hospice care. Congratulations Joyce on your ongoing efforts to support yourself and others, we really appreciate having you in program and seeing your growth!
Tanya is one of our long-time members from the Abington area. She started attending program in 2016 and has been an active participant ever since. She always enjoys working on the computer and learning new things. She is an avid reader and can always be caught with a book in her back pocket. She comes to program with a smile on her face and a good listening ear. She enjoys the different group activities whether it be an in-house group discussion, on budgeting or health and wellness, or an activity out in the community, such as attending the Abington Art Center. Even when she was out for about a month due to hip surgery, she kept in touch with her peers and staff via zoom a few times each week. She has since recovered from this operation and is back to attending program in person every week. Tanya, we appreciate having you as a member of our community!
