Darryl Golden was first introduced to the Hedwig House, Inc. in 2014 as a client through his company, The Golden Cleaning Service, LLC.

Over the years he built relationships with Michele Edgcumbe, Karen Bitting, Norman Matusak, and Joe Windish and soon became involved through participation in their fundraising events.

Darryl was a four-year Army ROTC scholarship recipient and attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, a historically black university (HBCU), where he earned a BS in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and served in the Army Reserve for four years as a signal officer for the Signal Corps.

While on Army Reserve duty, Darryl joined Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia, Inc., an organization founded to serve individuals with disabilities and other special needs. As a distribution center manager, he was in charge of all aspects of the processing and transportation departments, managed in-house contracts, and assisted with the opening of numerous stores throughout middle Georgia. In addition, he provided training for employees as well as worked with and developed on-the-job training for employees with disabilities. Darryl says, “One of the highlights of working with Goodwill Industries was the opportunity to train people with disabilities and then seeing the smile on their faces when they successfully completed their journey. That’s something you can’t put a monetary value on.” This compassion and experience will serve as a great asset as a board member of the Hedwig House, Inc.

Darryl later relocated to the Northeast and joined the Johns Hopkins Home Medical Care team in Baltimore, Maryland as a distribution center manager. It was there he managed all aspects of home delivery for the state of Maryland, as well as the company’s fleet, trained, evaluated, and developed employees, managed outside courier contracts, and provided on-going training for employees to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Darryl’s extensive background in distribution and logistics have also afforded him the opportunity to work for such companies as The Chamberlain Group, Inc., FedEx Corporation, The Home Depot, Inc., Vitas HME Solutions, and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. Darryl is currently employed at Cintas Corporation as an inventory manager.

Darryl is the owner of The Golden Cleaning Service, LLC, a family-operated, commercial cleaning business serving small to medium contracts throughout Montgomery county for over ten years. GCS has also been a long-time donor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in his hometown of Memphis, TN.

Darryl is a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, the 2nd oldest existing collegiate historically Black fraternity headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, where he is involved in community outreach.

Darryl and his wife, Cheryl Golden college sweethearts and native Memphians. They currently reside in Lansdale, PA with their two daughters, Maya and Nia, and four-year-old Cavachon, Louie.
